National Baseball Hall of Fame Induction Ceremony 2021

On September 8, I was able to head to Cooperstown, NY to attend the Baseball Hall of Fame induction ceremony for Derek Jeter.

To get to Cooperstown we flew into the Albany. Your best options are Albany and Syracuse. Then from there it is a little over an hour to get to Cooperstown.

We stayed in Schenectady, New York at the Landing Hotel. We wanted something nice that was close to the airport when it was time to leave. And the hotel had a casino, was hosting Cage Wars and had great food and drinks. There are other options that were closer but the motels that were listed seemed kind of sketchy.

We arrived in Albany the night before the ceremony. So once it became the morning of September 8th, we were up and ready to start the day at 7am. I knew that it was going to be crowded even for people who had reservations like we did. So we ventured off and headed to Cooperstown!

TIPS:

Free Tickets for HOF ceremony go on sale during the summer. Those tickets go fast and they do not come with any accommodations. They do not guarantee seating or refreshments. But I can tell you a trick to get to see your favorite baseball players!

If you sign up to be a Hall Of Fame Member for a year you get 2 reserved tickets to go to the event. This means if you pay for at least a Presidents Membership ( which is $500) you get 2 free tickets, and guaranteed seats to attend!

With your membership you get access to:

Visit Cooperstown as many times as you want within a year.

You receive 10%-20% off any items bought on their website or in person.

HOF Commemorative Pin for you and your guest.

HOF Commemorative Hat.

HOF Members Card

Chance to submit questions to your favorite inductee.

As you travel up the highway to get to Cooperstown you don’t have a lot of striking scenery but as soon as you see the signs for the Baseball Hall of Fame!

I have been a diehard Yankees fan since I can remember. Growing up in Manhattan I attended games with my dad often. And even when I moved to Washington DC I stayed a Yankees fan.

In 1995 a young rookie named Derek Jeter joined the league. He took over from year one and earned his way up to team Captain. I fell in love with baseball thanks to the players that dominated the late 1990s and early 2000s. From Mariano Rivera, Cal Ripken Jr, Ken Griffey Jr and many others who ended up in the Hall of Fame.

At the ceremony before they announce the inductees and present them to the audience they welcome in all the past Hall of Famers! So as an added bonus I got to see legends up close! And Patrick Ewing and Michael Jordan were in attendance.
