Being from NYC originally my parents would always take me to Flushing Meadows to see tennis. My dad used to work for CBS News and they used to broadcast the matches. I remember going to the kids day and meeting so many celebrities growing up. I still have my autograph book with inserts from Rosie O’Donnell, John McEnroe, James Blake and more.
The site where the US Open is held used to be the site for the 1964 Worlds Fair! It also has the original designs from the fair including the globe and tower. These were also featured in movies such as Men in Black.
Arthur Ashe stadium is the largest stadium court on the grounds. The most important and expensive matches take place here. So it was of course the place where we got to Serena Williams play as a professional tennis player for the last time.
The Polo store that was on site had some amazing finds! They even had a place where you could design your own T-shirt. You were able to pick the design you were interested in and then add your name or initials to make it your own.
